Mechanical engineering services for experimental research installations with bench-size up to skid-size and translation to construction technicians
Key Challenges
Autonomously design in a safe and cost-effective manner with the highest quality
Initiate and adopt new technologies, guidelines, and applications to increase the customers’ competitive edge
Responsible for the integrity of the design
Pro-active and effective communication on workload and priorities, ability to handle changing priorities Organization Reports to a Shell Team Lead based in Amsterdam
Accountabilities
Mechanical engineering of experimental installations with 3D software (Autodesk), resulting in technically correct and viable designs at a competitive price
Contribute to the Factory Acceptance Test and Site Acceptance Test
Estimate, plan and control the required hours and costs for a design
Work on multiple projects simultaneously
Effective supervision of design realization: budget control, compliance with safety procedures
Continuously develop new technical options and expand the range of experimental applications
Review of work delivered by junior engineers and third parties
Responsible for selecting and specifying Mechanical materials.
Responsible for interfacing between research and utility infrastructure
Responsible for viable and safe design
Deliver presentations internally
Development of discipline specific templates and guidelines
Skills & Certificates
Min. degree Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Mechatronics / Fine Mechanics / Technical Physics or Secondary level (MBO) with >10 years of relevant (practical experience)
Language Dutch & English: fluent in speaking and writing
Required training VCA-VOL
Preferred training Training pressure vessels acc. PED and NEN-EN 13445 part 1-5 or similar
Knowledge & Experience
Min. work experience 3-8 years of working experience with Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Communication skills Very good: clearly displays complex information so that it connects to one or more audiences; constantly considers different needs and interests of the audience; recognizes contradictions and takes a suitable approach; responds effectively to (non-)verbal signals.
Specific knowledge
National and international standards and specifications
Understanding of process flow schemes (P&ID) and process design notes
Knowledge of machine directives
Knowledge of Pressure Equipment Directive
Knowledge Material & Seal Selection
Knowledge Stress analysis/calculation, FEM
Knowledge Engineering ATEX (mechanical)
